Clinical study of wet age-related macular degeneration

In this clinical study, retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells made from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells) will be transplanted to patients with wet age-related macular degeneration, an Ophthalmology disease. With the aim of practical application of new treatments that maintain and improve visual function, Kobe City Medical Center General Hospital, Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University iPS Cell Research Institute and RIKEN Multicellular System Formation It is carried out jointly by the four institutions of the research center.
