In April 2017, in addition to the ICT (Infection Control Team), the AST (Antimicrobial Stewardship Team) was newly established. Infection Control

Infection Control activities

consultation

You will be consulted on the treatment of infectious diseases, the selection of antibiotics, countermeasures against drug-resistant bacteria, and nursing care procedures related to infections.

ward round

It is conducted regularly to observe the implementation status of infection control measures by the staff. Occasionally, I will be present during care and treatment situations.

Early detection and response to infectious disease surveillance and outbreaks

We check the detection status of drug-resistant bacteria such as MRSA and ESBL, and strive to prevent their increase and spread.

ICT conference (once/week)

Along with monitoring the detection status of drug-resistant bacteria, surveillance, and reporting on ward rounds, we are working on issues for consideration.

AST team activity

We monitor the use of specific antimicrobials from the early stage of treatment for infectious diseases, examine the appropriate administration period and dosage, and aim to improve the therapeutic effect through appropriate use of antimicrobials.

Apart from the ICT conference, the AST team also holds a conference once a week. Conferences held by doctor, nurses, pharmacists, and clinical laboratory technologists are an important time for exchanging opinions and sharing information among various professions.

Staff safety management

We strive to prevent staff from being exposed to needles and blood, and we have created an environment where safety devices and protective equipment can be used appropriately.

In addition, we check the antibody titers (hepatitis B and epidemic viral diseases) of our employees and vaccinate them.

With the aim of increasing the herd immunity of our hospital, we have started a new initiative from 2016 that requires new employees and trainees to submit an "antibody survey form".

For more information, please see "For those who are planning to join our hospital, practice, or train."

Staff education

We hold various workshops on the theme of infection control. We also regularly conduct training that assumes acceptance of patients with infectious diseases.

Creating and revising manuals

We are constantly creating and revising in-hospital manuals on infection control.
